Holiday Soiree Brings $370,000 at F-T

Holiday Soiree, a grade I-placed daughter of Harlan’s Holiday, got the July 15 Fasig-Tipton summer horses of racing age sale off to a good start when she fetched $370,000 from John Greathouse of Glencrest Farm.

“I bought her for a partner—a local guy,” said Greathouse of the 4-year-old filly, who was consigned as Hip No. 314 by Four Star Sales, agent, and is out of the stakes-placed Include mare Try to Remember. Greathouse said his partner typically buys to race, but also owns some broodmares.

While Holiday Soiree has failed to find the winner’s circle in her past eight starts, she has been on the board in five of those events, all of which were stakes, including a third in the May 4 Humana Distaff (gr. I) at Churchill Downs behind Aubby K.

In her most recent start, she was fourth in the July 6 Princess Rooney (gr. I). That race was won by the Ghostzapper filly Starship Truffles, who is also entered in the July 15 auction. Holiday Soiree, who holds an overall record of 4-4-2 from 17 starts and has earnings of $330,642, was formerly owned by Run to Win Again Stable and Unlimited Equine.

“She has had decent numbers and nice people have owned her,” said Greathouse of Holiday Soiree, who will now be sent to trainer Todd Pletcher to race at Saratoga Race Course.

Bred in Kentucky by Brereton Jones, the filly is from the family of grade I winners Dance Teacher and Cat Moves, plus grade II-winning millionaire Gold Mover.
